VF tyre FAQ’s

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we get about VF tractor tyres.  Let us know anything we’ve missed in the comments below and we’ll get them added in.

What does NRO on a tyre mean?

NRO on an agricultural tyre stands for Narrow Rim Option.

It means that the VF tyre can fit on a more standard narrow rim.

E.g. a Bridgestone VF 650/65R42 is recommended on a 23×42 rim, but is a NRO tyre so can fit on the 20×42 rim as well.

What does IF mean on tyres??

IF stands for Increased Flexion. It means an agricultural tyre can run at 20% lower pressure or carry 20% higher load compared to a standard tyre.

What does VF mean on tyres??

VF stands for Very High Flexion. It means an agricultural tyre can run at 40% lower pressure or carry 40% higher load compared to a standard tyre.

What is the actual pressure on the ground compared to the pressure inside a tyre?

As a rough guide, the pressure on the ground is 2psi higher than the pressure inside an agricultural tyre.

So if the pressure in the tyre is 15psi, the ground pressure will be approx. 17psi.

What is the difference between IF and VF tires?

IF tyres can run at 20% lower pressure than a standard tyre. VF tyres can run at 40% lower pressure.

Alternatively, if the pressures are the same, IF tyres can carry 20% more load as a standard tyre. VF tyres can carry 40% more load.
